Valmiera INSPIRE Hackathon

Another event from the INSPIRE Hackathon series took place at the Vidzemes University of Applied Sciences (ViA) in Valmiera, Latvia, between 30 May and 1 June 2018. The event was organized by the ViA in cooperation with PoliVisu and several other European projects, namely DataBio, NextGEOSS, EUXDAT, as well as Plan4All association. This Hackathon aimed to introduce the technologies and data used in the foregoing projects to students of the ViA. The majority of participants were 2nd year students of the ViA's information technologies programme. PoliVisu partner's media platform commended by German Chancellor

On 5 June 2018 ATC showcased its web-based collaboration platform Truly Media at a high-profile event attended by senior policy makers, chief among them the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was given a brief demo of the tool and eventually commended the team for great work saying "well done, keep going!" Co-designed with Deutsche Welle, Truly Media supports journalists and human rights workers in the verification of digital content hosted on social media. ATC is providing a similar technology called TruthNest for the PoliVisu project to assist with the collection of sentiment toward policies on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. *Photo credit here by Truly Media
