Launch of PoliVisu Data Literacy Survey

The term data literacy has become an integral part of a wider discussion about data revolution as policymakers and various expert communities began considering what it would take to enable people to make better use of the information around them. Many ideas were generated as a result. Policymakers have advocated more data science skills-training programs. Education institutions and non-profit organisations have tackled the digital divide by providing coding programs to the masses, especially vulnerable groups such as women and minorities (e.g. Women Who Code, School of Data). The INSPIRE hackathons are organised annually within the framework of INSPIRE conference. The so-called ‘satellite’ INSPIRE hackathons focusing on different topics are organised throughout the year. The results from all the satellite hackathons are then presented at the INSPIRE conference. The ORLÉANS/OGC INSPIRE Hackathon 2018 is one of the satellite hackathons organised as part of the INSPIRE hackathon series.
